Holiday Party
The Park Ridge Newcomer Holiday Party will be a special evening focusing on Philanthropy and Friendship, two of the reasons this amazing organization exists.

Join friends new and old to celebrate the holiday season!  We will dine at Zia's
at 6699 N. Northwest Hwy.
on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7:00 PM

  Please RSVP by November 28th
A $5 charge will cover the cost of dinner and drinks.

As a way to cultivate new and old friendships,
we will have a special mixer during the
cocktail portion of the party.

As a way to share our philanthropic spirit this holiday season, we have chosen to support Charlie Giera, a participant in the Park Ridge based Avenues to Independence.  We are asking members to bring a gift card in any denomination to Kohl's (for new clothes/shoes); Best Buy (for an IPad that will be used for job training programs); or Jewel, Subway, Einstein's or Dunkin' Donuts (for groceries/meals).  Read a portion of Charlie's story below:

Charlie Giera has been a participant at Avenues to Independence for more than 30 years. He is also an active member of the Park Ridge Community.  Charlie volunteers at the Park Ridge Library and is a member of the Park Ridge Community Church. Despite his disabilities, Charlie has almost always been employed. He worked full-time for 19 years at Creative Printing in Des Plaines, but the company closed several years ago. Charlie was unemployed for several years, but did not give up.  With the help of Avenues’ staff he secured a part-time job in janitorial services at the offices of Coyne Insurance and Dr. John Davis, both in Park Ridge.

Tragically, a few months after getting his new job, Charlie was hit by a car in a pedestrian-automobile accident. His foot was severely broken. As a result, Charlie has been in a rehabilitation facility since his accident and has not been able to work. Though Charlie has Medicaid and Social Security benefits, they do not cover all of his expenses.

If you would like to donate a tangible item that Charlie needs such as gloves, shoes, socks, or a CD player, please email Cheryl Jolineau @cherjol@gmail.com, for more information and to avoid duplicate items.  We thank you in advance for your generosity at the holiday season.
